Afterglow:  Shooting after dark

4-5  hours online   Saturday,  February 12th • 2022

9am PST / 12PM EST    $125

Once again, I will be teaching my online Intensive training on capturing many kinds of images after the sun goes down. This is probably my favorite kind of photography & this workshop will include new ideas and techniques!

From dusk till dawn, the darkness can reveal a world filled with mystery and wonder. Photographic possibilities become endless when imagination and knowledge collide after dark. Movement, color and light combine to give results that are often unseen with the naked eye.  Longer shutter speeds can produce imposing cobalt blue skies, surreal car trails and star trails, one of a kind silhouettes, gorgeous motion blurs, electrifying lightning, and of course the awe inspiring Milky Way Galaxy.

This short workshop will show the endless possibilities of capturing images after the sun goes down. From architecture, to travel, to slow shutter speeds after dark, to the drama of lightning, the many ways to capture stunning images after dark will be discussed. The class will also focus on capturing the night sky and the elusive & spectacular Milky Way. There are many dark sky locations around the world and this class will show you how to find them and how to capture stunning after dark images.

After Dark is Amazing!

In this class, you will learn everything you need to know for all kinds of after dark scenarios including scouting locations, planning ahead, knowing when and where the Milky Way will be and good star trail locations, capturing lightning and so much more.

This class will also go over some of the best apps for your computer and your cell phone for understanding the Milky Way and night sky, including Photo Pills.  It will also go over   useful post processing techniques to make your images look their best. There is a lot to know about shooting almost anything after the sun goes down and this class will go over what you need to know.

This four-5 hour classroom session will also cover long exposures, evaluating existing lighting situations, composition, camera set ups, light painting and scouting locations. We will also go into camera settings and gear that you need to know to be able to capture the best images possible under varied conditions and situations

From Car trails to  Star Trails

There is so much to capture after dark in the United States and all over the world. When the city lights come on, architecture is stunning and capturing travel images after dark is about as photogenic as it gets! The workshop will cover great travel destinations for stunning travel photography and what gear is needed from the Coliseum in Rome to the Milky Way over Death Valley. So many spectacular places are out of this world after dark.

Architecture looks insanely different after dark and I will cover the right gear, settings, compositions and much more.  The workshop will cover everything from car trails to star trails and show you how exciting this type of photography can be. I will also go extensively into capturing the Milky Way and processing the Milky Way. Lots to know!

These informative hours will push you into a new direction and shooting after dark is probably my favorite type of photography no matter where on earth I happen to be.
